R-Style Detectors

An R-Style detector is basically a machined NaI(Tl) crystal hermetically sealed in an aluminum housing. Reflector material is packed between the crystal and the housing. An optical window is incorporated into one end of the housing. Just add a PMT, make the package light-tight, plug on a voltage divider and you're ready to count gamma rays. Note: If you're going to use one R-Style/PMT combination, or if you just want to avoid the hassle of assembling your own detector, consider ordering a Bicron Direct M-Style detector.  |
